Tips for Surviving No-Shave November
No-Shave November is a great way for guys to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and the people struggling to beat this disease. However, suddenly having facial hair can definitely throw you for a loop if you are usually clean-shaven.
To help the beard newbies make it through November, we asked Sport Clips Manager Jules McCullough for some beard care tips.
What beard products do you recommend and why?
Jules: I recommend a good cleansing shampoo and deep conditioner. Many men don’t know that beard health starts in the shower, and you need to keep it clean and conditioned just like the rest of the hair on your head. A hydrating shampoo with no alcohols and a deep conditioner with natural ingredients will help a beard grow and behave better.
My personal favorites are the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Lavender Mint shampoo and the Gibs Bio Fuel Conditioner.
What is the best tool for beard grooming?
Jules: A comb. Using a comb to detangle the beard should be done after applying a conditioner in the shower. A bristle brush is also helpful in distributing oils after the beard is dry.
How do you groom a growing beard?
Jules: You can come to Sport Clips for a beard trim and have your beard lines and length cleaned up regularly for optimal growth and style. You also can add our signature MVP service and request a beard treatment to be added prior to the hot towel. The beard treatment is no extra charge with the purchase of a walk-in MVP.
Are there different types of beards?
Beards are like personalities, no two are the same. Each beard has its own growth pattern, texture and color. Each beard needs to be groomed and taken care of in its own way.
Whether you’re only going to have your beard for 30 days, or you’re thinking about keeping it because it’s starting to grow on you (pun intended), keeping it clean and healthy will make having facial hair a better experience.
Sport Clips Haircuts Central Mass provides quality haircuts to kids and adults at an affordable price in a clean, sports-themed atmosphere. Come for a haircut or beard trim, or enjoy our signature MVP treatment, including a neck and shoulder massage, hot or cold towel treatment and deep shampoo.
